We are in interdisciplinary research team that focuses on medical robotics technology at small scales. We are currently looking for Postdoctoral Fellow & Research Assistant in the direction of Miniature Surgical Tools. We focus on development of new endoscopic/laparoscopic surgical tools and miniaturization of the developed surgical tools for minimally invasive surgery. Our group has tight collaboration with the Department of Surgery in CUHK and the Multi-scale Medical Robotics Center in Science Park.
 

Responsibilities:

The appointee(s) will be responsible to assist the research team for 

(a) Design and development of endoscopic/laparoscopic surgical tools; 

(b) Structural optimization and miniaturization of the surgical tools; 

(c) Fabrication of the prototypes, and their performance and safety testing; 

(d) Performing tests and experiments in campus and clinical sites. He/she will work collaboratively with other research staff and students in both the engineering team and the biological experiment team. 

(e) Undertaking other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the research team. 

The appointee(s) will work with the research team and clinical collaborators for further R&D of the technology and clinical trials. 

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or other related
disciplines. 

2. Experience in development of surgical tools, fabrication of miniature devices/tools, and/or related industrial experience will be advantageous. 

3. Good track record of high-quality research/ project; and 

4. Good communication skills and the ability to work
independently.
