1905 International Human Rights Film Festival (“1905IHRFF”) seeking a part-time development & outreach Intern.

Commitment: minimum of 20 hours a week / including remote working hours

The 1905 International Human Rights Film Festival (“1905IHRFF”) is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student in journalism, international affairs, film, event management or related fields for the fall-winter 2019/2020 internship in the Hong Kong office. Ideally, the intern will be available from September 23, 2019 through the last week of February 2020, with the possibility to extend. The intern will receive experience in film programming, marketing and planning international film festival events. We are looking for candidates that are passionate about human rights, who are determined to make an impact on people’s lives around the world.

The internship is unpaid. Students are often able to arrange academic credit, as this internships often offer direct exposure to the workings of an international human rights organization, close supervision by the 1905IHRFF staff, interaction with other international film festivals, and opportunities to attend lectures, training, and special events relating to human rights. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements.

Part-time development & outreach Intern will learn and primarily focus on:

-preparing the logistics of 1905IHRFFs major events;-conducting desk research on films in production, film festivals, and film funders;-drafting acknowledgment letters and other correspondence;-coordinating partnership communication;-engaging donors;- watching and reviewing films to participate in programmatic decisions;-using databases, and conducting desk research for development and outreach projects.

Qualifications: Strong oral and written communication skills in both Cantonese, Chinese ( Mandarin) and English are required. Computer skills are essential (e.g., Microsoft Office, internet applications). Applicants should be disciplined self-starters and strong team players. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to human rights and/or international issues.

Applicants who are offered an internship, but who are not Hong Kong citizens or permanent residents, must possess a valid Hong Kong visa for the duration of the internship.
