Professor Li Zhang’s lab of CUHK Engineering has been conducting leading research across a broad range of biomedical applications. One focus is to develop a non-invasive neurostimulation device for pain relief, which is in cooperation with Prof. Matthew Chan in Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, CUHK and Prof. Linda Lam and Prof. Hanna Lu from Department of Psychiatry. The appointee will work with the research team and clinical collaborators for a fast-paced, sketch-to-trial full-cycle medical device development for pain relief. The appointee will be responsible to assist the research team for (i) device development; (ii) evaluation of the developed device on cells and animals; and (iii) performing tests and experiments in campus and clinical sites. 

Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree (for Postdoctoral Fellow) in Neuroscience, Medicine, Biomedical Science, or related disciplines; OR an/a MPhil/MSc/BSc degree (for Research Assistant) in the abovementioned discipline; (ii) a good track record of high-quality research; and (iii) good communication skills and the ability to work independently. Experience in pain research, neurostimulation, development of biomedical device/instrumentation and/or related industrial experience will be a plus.

The appointee is expected to work collaboratively with other research staff and students in both the engineering team and the biological experiment team. 

The salary and rank are subject to qualification and working experience of the applicants. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
